While hiking up Burbank Canyon, my husband Michael heard an unusual cat sound. He pulled out his video camera and began to shoot. Hoping to film a cougar, out from the shadows a well-camouflaged fox appeared. He was able to capture this rarity. What a wonderful subject to paint. We are still hoping to film a cougar, or a better picture of the Bears we have seen last summer.

Out from the Shadows, 2 Foxes
Out from the Shadows, 2 Foxes
This is a continuation of the above story. I actually took frames from Mikes video and put the fox images together in different configurations. All these images were taken from one fox. After the fox checked out Mike, he gave him a big yawn. Great white hunter?

Morning Rush Hour
Morning Rush Hour
The Basque shepherds bring their flocks down from the mountains in the winter months to graze in the local Smith Valley ranchers' fields. As they travel from ranch to ranch, they are quite special to behold. The sounds of their hooves clicking on the pavement resonate as they bleat and bah to each other. I hope I captured the morning sun as it cast it's long shadows on the scene while the sheep kick up the dust on the road. I was particularly impressed with the sheep in the foreground that seemed as curious in me as I was in them.
