The Basque shepherds bring their flocks down from the mountains in the winter months to graze in the local Smith Valley ranchers' fields. As they travel from ranch to ranch, they are quite special to behold. The sounds of their hooves clicking on the pavement resonate as they bleat and bah to each other. I hope I captured the morning sun as it cast it's long shadows on the scene while the sheep kick up the dust on the road. I was particularly impressed with the sheep in the foreground that seemed as curious in me as I was in them.

NEVADA RAIN
There is something very special about a sunset summer stroll amidst the quietly pulsating sprinklers irrigating the landscape. The precious water transforms the high dessert into rich green fields of alfalfa, onions, garlic, potatoes, and more. This is one of Bob Bryan's fields of alfalfa in Smith Valley.
